Answer Key

Level 1 — Basic Percentage

Q1: 70%
Q2: 35%
Q3: 50%
Q4: 75%
Q5: 40%
Q6: 12%
Q7: 16 ÷ 200 = 0.08 = 8%
Q8: 2 kg = 2000 g. 5 ÷ 2000 = 0.0025 = 0.25%
Q9: 24 ÷ 80 = 0.3 = 30%
Q10: 75 ÷ 500 = 0.15 = 15%

Level 2 — Intermediate Percentage

Q11: 1 − ⅕ = ⅘ = 80%
Q12: Remaining = 1 − ⅖ = ⅗. Each colour = ⅗ ÷ 2 = 3/10 = 30%
Q13: Fish burger = 40 − 24 = 16. 16 ÷ 40 = 0.4 = 40%
Q14: Remaining = 1 − ⅕ = ⅘. Pink = ⅘ ÷ 2 = ⅖ = 40%
Q15: Blueberry at first = 40% × 200 = 80. After adding = 80 + 100 = 180. Total = 300. 180 ÷ 300 = 60%
Q16: Red left = 60 − (30% × 60) = 42. Green left = 40 − (55% × 40) = 18. Total left = 60. Green % = 18 ÷ 60 = 30%
Q17: Girls = 1284 − 963 = 321. 321 ÷ 1284 = 0.25 = 25%
Q18: Girls = 80 − 24 = 56. 56 ÷ 80 = 0.7 = 70%
Q19: 2 kg = 2000 g. Left = 2000 − 800 = 1200 g. 1200 ÷ 2000 = 0.6 = 60%
Q20: Shaded = 2/5 = 40%. Unshaded = 100% − 40% = 60%

Level 3 — Word Problems

Q21: After giving 30% to parents, 70% remains. Let remaining = R. Transport = 20% of (R − 350). Savings = 80% of (R − 350) = $1120. So R − 350 = $1400. R = $1750. Salary = 1750 ÷ 0.7 = $2500. Food % = 350 ÷ 2500 = 14%
Q22: Spent = $150 − $60 = $90. 90 ÷ 150 = 0.6 = 60%
Q23: After bag: 60% left. Stationery = ⅖ × 60% = 24%. Left = 60% − 24% = 36%
Q24: Durian + egg = 60 − 24 = 36. Egg = 36 ÷ 2 = 18. 18 ÷ 60 = 0.3 = 30%
Q25: Let salary = S. Transport = ⅓(S − 400). Left = ⅔(S − 400) = ½S. So S − 400 = ¾S. ¼S = 400. S = $1600. Food % = 400 ÷ 1600 = 25%
Q26: Total = 120 + 150 + 130 = 400. Tuesday % = 150 ÷ 400 = 37.5%
Q27: Total = 15 + 20 + 10 + 5 = 50. Top 2 = Banana + Apple = 35. 35 ÷ 50 = 70%
Q28: 60% left means 40% were moved out or sold. 45 + 15 = 60 = 40% of original. Original = 150. Moved out % = 45 ÷ 150 = 30%
Q29: Gave to friends = 40%. Remaining = 60%. Gave to sister = ¼ × 60% = 15%. Total given away = 40% + 15% = 55%
Q30: February = $240 + (25% × $240) = $300. March = $300 − (10% × $300) = $270
